Polarimeters

Thursday, 07 February, 2008 | Supplied by: PerkinElmer (Australia) Pty Ltd

The optical null principle, with automatic rotation of the analyser, is the basis of PerkinElmer's polarimeters. This principle, combined with microprocessor electronics, results in an instrument which combines high accuracy and precision with simple operation. The operating principle of the Series 341/343 polarimeters ensures accuracy of ±0.02° for optical rotations £1°. The instrument's automatic gain adjustment and selectable integration times allow users to measure the optical rotation of even stronger absorbing samples with high accuracy.

For routine measurements simply select the wavelength, insert the sample and read the result "” either on the integral display or in PerkinElmer's POL WinLab software.

The Series 341/343 polarimeters are suitable for quality control of raw materials; characterisation of newly synthesised compounds; quality control of pharmaceutical drugs; precise quantitative analysis of sugars; selective detection of optically active components by HPLC; and monitoring and control of enzymatic reactions.
