Thermo Electron has introduced the Nicolet 380, a routine analysis FT-IR spectrometer designed to identify, quantify and verify samples.

The instrument is primarily targeted at QA/QC laboratories within the pharmaceutical, chemical and polymeric industries that need to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency with optimised workflow processes.

The device uses system integration, plug-and-play sampling and computer-based expertise to guide the user through the experiment. A spectrometer qualification package is available to verify system performance in compliance with IOS and GLP/cGMP criteria.

A dynamically aligned interferometer and a robust design ensure reproducible results. Integrated scan buttons on the spectrometer benchtop allow operation of common FT-IR functions for both industrial and academic laboratories.

The spectrometer is available for analysis in the far-, near- and mid-IR regions and can also be configured with FT-IR microscopes.

The design of the instrument allows a wavelength precision of better than 0.01 cm-1 without using mathematical factors that alter data and are difficult to explain in a standard operating procedure.

Electronics provide quick response time, 24 bit A/D converter and USB 2.0 interface.
