Deep Purple Total Protein Stain is a fluorescent stain for the detection and visualisation of proteins in 1D and 2D gels. The product offers up to eight times more sensitivity in protein detection. Deep Purple gives proteomics customers the ability to detect more proteins with accuracy while eliminating the problem of uneven levels of background fluorescence, known as 'speckling'.

Deep Purple Total Protein Stain offers 1D and 2D gel image data by delivering higher sensitivity and clearer backgrounds compared to other fluorescent stains such as Sypro Ruby.

Deep Purple can be detected using a broad variety of imaging devices including industry standard fluorescent scanners such as Typhoon, CCD cameras, UV transilluminators and some light boxes. The stain is fully compatible with mass spectrometry (MS) and Edman sequencing. As Deep Purple is a naturally occurring fluorophore free from heavy metals; it is easily disposed of and environmentally friendly. Deep Purple is claimed to be up to eight times more sensitive than Sypro Ruby and as speckling is eliminated, clearer, easily discernible, and more accurately quantitated protein spots and bands are achieved. The high signal-to-noise ratios mean low-intensity spots and bands are detected. The low viscosity product is easier to handle with no oily residue. The stain is compatible with downstream analysis and fully compatible with MS and Edman sequencing.
