Pipetting system for automated protein crystallisation

Rigaku has entered into an agreement with TTP LabTech to offer the mosquito nanolitre pipetting system as part of the Rigaku CrystalMation platform for automated protein crystallisation experiments. As used by the pharmaceutical industry for rational drug design, the mosquito technology will be implemented on a custom basis for users doing high throughput research on membrane proteins as well as RNA and DNA research.

UV microscope

Rigaku has launched the Desktop Minstrel UV, a fully automated UV imaging and protein crystal monitoring system. The instrument uses UV fluorescence microscopy to successfully monitor crystal growth by distinguishing protein crystals from non-protein crystals, such as salt.

Imaging plate X-ray diffractometer

The Rigaku R-axis HTC imaging plate (IP) detector features a three-plate system that allows for simultaneous expose, erase and readout operations. This means that the duty cycle is limited only by the speed of the IP transport from one position to the next, making the R-AXIS HTC highly efficient for screening samples and suitable for experiments with brief exposure times. It combines the high-throughput capability of a CCD with the large aperture size and dynamic range of an IP.
