AMSA-NZMSS 2024
15 September, 2024 - 20 September, 2024
The joint AMSA & NZMSS 2024 Conference will provide an opportunity for marine scientists and managers from across Australia, New Zealand and the Indo-Pacific to come together to advance their understanding of the region’s unique marine environment during a period of uncertainty.
The “Navigating Uncertainty for a Future Sustainable Ocean” theme is aimed at bringing scientists and managers together to discuss the latest research that can guide society towards a future sustainable ocean.
The 58th annual AMSA conference, combined with the NZMSS conference, will be held from 15–20 September 2024, in Nipaluna, Hobart, Tasmania. Hobart is home to CSIRO, Australian Antarctic Division, University of Tasmania, the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, and the Centre for Marine Socioecology. This makes Hobart a destination to bring together scientists and managers from across Australia and New Zealand to discuss and learn how we as a community can navigate the uncertain future ahead, and ensure we are working towards a future sustainable ocean.
This is an international marine science forum that will welcome and provide a space to share traditional knowledge and science. Together, this will provide a strong foundation for understanding marine ecosystems and inform marine management decisions. AMSA 2024 also aims to foster student and early-career researcher participation, by providing a platform for professional development and networking in a supportive, inclusive space. AMSA and NZMSS meetings promote a culture of inclusion and bring together a diverse range of delegates working in all fields of marine science, conservation and management.
