Beckman Coulter LS 13 320 particle characterisation software

Beckman Coulter has added a feature to its LS 13 320 analysis software that allows geologists, sedimentologists and civil engineers to present their data in Folk-Ward Phi Notation. The software runs on the LS 13 320 laser diffraction particle characterisation system.

The Folk-Ward Phi notation has three advantages: it is easier to read; it gives a good graphical representation of naturally occurring sediment-size distributions; and it is standard in the sedimentology literature.

Laser diffraction offers many advantages over traditional measurement techniques such as sieves and sedimentation - being faster and automated, it can provide significant time savings and make it even easier for users to collect meaningful data.
