Search engine for natural peptides

Proteomics International has developed a peptide drug discovery process and the preliminary results are positive.

Working with venoms from scorpions, centipedes and spiders from central Australia’s desert arthropods, the company has developed an entirely new way of validating potential peptide drug candidates.

The company’s integrated Bioven process uses mass spectrometry and a series of proprietary algorithms to determine peptide identity and to predict, by homology matching, the function of the peptides. It is claimed that up to five times more potential drug candidates can be recovered from one venom than previously achieved.

Whilst continuing to process new venoms for potential drug leads, the company’s ever expanding peptide library is regularly compared to in-house databases of known functional sequences, thus providing the company with a limitless resource and an early entry into any future markets.
