Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament keratins that are characterised by their biochemical diversity, which is represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. The expression of cytokeratins varies with epithelial cell type, the extent of differentiation and the development of the tissue. Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are used to an increasing extent in the distinction of different types of epithelial malignancies, making cytokeratins particularly useful tools in oncology diagnostics.

Cytokeratin 4 is expressed in the suprabasal layer of the stratified epithelium of the oesophagus, exocervix, vagina, mouth and lingual mucosa, and in cells and cell clusters in the mucosa and serous gland ducts of the oesophageal submucosa (at protein level). It is also expressed widely in the exocervix and oesophageal epithelium, with lowest levels detected in the basal cell layer.

To assist scientists, HUABIO offers the Cytokeratin 4 Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody. It is suitable for a range of applications including flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, western blotting and immunoprecipitation. For quality assurance, HUABIO antibodies are designed to demonstrate good specificity, sensitivity and lot-to-lot consistency due to recombinant antibody technology.
