Neogen Soleris yeast and mould test

Wednesday, 20 June, 2012 | Supplied by: Cell Biosciences Pty Ltd

Neogen has developed a fast method to accurately detect yeast and mould in food products. Soleris is an optical method for the detection of microbial contamination based on an application of classic microbiology. The test can detect one colony-forming unit (CFU) of yeast or mould per vial in 48 h or less - conventional methods take up to five days.

In addition to the yeast and mould test, the tests provide: total viable count (TVC) results in 6-8 h (conventional methods take 24-48 h); coliform results in 9-10 h (conventional methods take 24 h); E. coli results in 7-10 h (conventional methods take 24 h or longer); lactic bacteria results in 30-35 h (conventional methods take 3-5 days).

The system features quick, automated, quality-indicator system protocols. It enables operators to release products more quickly, saving the organisation inventory costs. The system also enables operators to easily identify, monitor and map problematic spots in their facilities.
