Friday, 08 June, 2012

Since February this year, John Morris Scientific has been conducting a campaign to locate the oldest working Gilson pipette in Australia and New Zealand. The competition was held in order to prove that Gilson pipettes truly last a lifetime.

The winner has been announced as Denise Lupton, Chief Technician at the University of Western Australia, who submitted a working Gilson P200, manufactured prior to 1979. Her prize was the latest Gilson Pipetman M, valued at $549.

Lupton said: “We always knew Gilson pipettes were good, that’s why we make a case for them and spend a bit more to get them. We like them because they are great for teaching - our students are very rough on them and they hold up well. They are also great because they are so easy and simple to maintain. However, we were still very surprised at the age of this pipette!”

Andre Wyzenbeek, General Manager of John Morris Scientific, said in announcing the winner: “A working pipette after over 30 years is testament to Gilson’s renowned precision, robustness and longevity.”
