Olympus MD calls for focus on customer service
The recently appointed managing director of Olympus Australia and New Zealand, James Bowe, has made his vision for the company clear, claiming that success is driven by customer relationships.
Announced as MD in July, Bowe has been with Olympus Australia and New Zealand for 19 years. In this time, he has helped transform the organisation from a locally run distributor to a direct-to-market subsidiary of Olympus Corporation — a leading manufacturer and distributor of optical, electronic and precision engineering products for scientific, medical and industrial applications.
While Bowe believes the company has the best product specifications and highest performance, he claims this is “no longer enough” in a competitive industry.
“To be successful, organisations must be able to deliver value above and beyond their products,” he said. “Customer service, on-site support, education, training, preventive maintenance and communication are key to realising this value, and it’s my goal to make Olympus the market leader in these areas.”
Olympus has achieved double-digit annual growth in the region over the past five years. According to Bowe, relationships with customers and the benefits which Olympus adds to its businesses are the biggest drivers of this success. He will continue to invest in these relationships during his time as managing director.
