Crystallisation is a critical step in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The size, shape and polymorphic form of API crystals directly influence drug properties such as solubility, bioavailability and stability. However, achieving consistent crystallisation can be challenging. Traditional methods like batch cooling or anti‑solvent addition often struggle to deliver tight control over nucleation, particle size distribution, morphology and polymorphism — leading to inconsistent material, broad size distributions and significant post‑processing requirements such as milling or additional purification steps.
