Scientex materials characterisation suite

The Scientex technology portfolio is suitable for R&D in materials, with installations throughout Australia.

The suite includes the Linseis range of thermal analytical instruments for R&D and QC/QA in the plastics sector, chemical industry, inorganic and building materials. The instruments include applications for determination of thermos-physical properties of solids, melts and fluids. Properties such as heat flow (DSC), mass change (TGA and combined TG/DSC), change of dimension (TMA), change of volume (DIL), thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity (LFA) and the Seebeck coefficient/electric resistivity (LSR) of materials are studied as they change with temperature.

Rubotherm recently released the DynTHERM NANO high-pressure thermobalance. The product combines ultrahigh sensitivity (0.01/0.1 µg) and robustness with a small internal volume and a broad measuring range. Its fast temperature and pressure control leads to good experimental results with low consumption of sample, measuring gases and time.

Viscometers from Lamy Rheology include models which suit QC applications, such as the B-One Touch and the portable version of this configuration for ease of use in the plant. High sensitivity is achieved by the innovative LR versions of the models, with the L model going down to 0.0674 mNm and the R model operating from 0.7187 mNm.

The RM 100 Touch meets ASTM/ISO 2555, DIN/ISO3219. The RM 100 Touch Gel Timer is suitable for monitoring viscosity changes in products up to solid state. For high-viscosity samples, the RM 100 Touch CP2000 is suitable for cone and plate applications and features temperature control. The rheometer models include the RM 200 Touch and the high-performance All-in-One model with torque capabilities to 40 mNm.

The LVEM5, from Delong America, is three microscopes in one, providing TEM, SEM and STEM modes. Using a 5 kV electron source in a small-footprint benchtop module, the product requires no special power, cooling or installation requirements. It produces images with good contrast, without the need for staining; multiple imaging modes in a single instrument; high versatility; ease of use; and high performance. For high power, the LVEM 25 has been released for TEM and STEM applications (range 25 to 10 kV) and provides improved contrast on light elements with conventionally prepared samples.
