The Stuart SMP 30 melting point apparatus can hold up to three melting point tubes simultaneously. The optimised heating block has a maximum temperature of 400°C and has a variable ramp up between 0.5 and 10°C, in 0.1°C increments, to give the user flexibility and customisation depending on the sample being analysed.
During use, to ensure the clearest view of the sample, the tubes are illuminated with bright white LEDs and the front head is fully removable to give access to the micro furnace, which allows for easy cleaning. A head up display shows a floating image of the block temperature, visible through the eyepiece, in front of the tubes. This eliminates the need for the user to continuously switch their gaze between the tubes and the temperature display; through the eyepiece, they can see both at once.
The apparatus is simple to use largely due to its large, clear, back-lit alphanumeric LCD. There are several languages available - English, German, Spanish, French and Italian. The internal memory can store up to eight events for each of the three sample tubes, as well as temp stamping these events and date and time.
The product features a drawer to store capillary tubes before usage, as well as slots for storing pre-prepared samples. Other benefits include integrated cooling from 350 to 50°C in 12 min; and an integrated real-time clock.
LabFriend supplies the SMP30 melting point apparatus, complete with pack of 100 melting point tubes (closed at one end), and all units are supplied with a calibration certificate showing individual serial numbers for traceability.
