Netzsch thermal analysis instruments from Bestech Australia enable many categories of materials to be tested, including organic, inorganic and biological in origin. The physical properties and chemical characteristics of such materials can be established with a high degree of certainty.

The prime purpose of Netzsch thermal analysis instruments is to analyse changes in physical properties of materials during precisely controlled temperature variants, both heating and cooling. The test chamber atmosphere may be precisely controlled so that the test complies with the requirements of the specification. Properties that are the most commonly analysed include specific heat and enthalpy changes, weight loss or gain, Young’s Modulus, thermal expansion or shrinkage, and gas evolution.

The Netzsch simultaneous thermal analyser STA 449 F3 Jupiter allows for the measurement of mass changes and thermal effects between -150 and 2000°C. The analyser can apply two or more test techniques to the sample simultaneously. It combines the advantage of a top-loading thermo-microbalance (TG) with a true heat flux differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) to enable a simultaneous TG-DSC (TGA-DSC) analysis.

Properties established by thermal analysis include polymorphism and structural changes, thermal stability and temperature limits of materials with respect to specific applications. Characteristics include ageing behaviour, thermomechanical behaviour and viscoelastic properties. Once established, such properties are significant in determining the optimum processing conditions for shaping, moulding, casting and extruding the materials analysed.
