Cannon Instrument’s miniAV-LT has been developed for low-temperature (subzero) kinematic viscosity measurement and is said to represent affordable sub-zero D445 automation.

The viscometer has a wide temperature measurement range of -40 to +30°C and is suitable for -20°C measurement of jet fuel according to ASTM D1655 and STAN 91:91. The instrument is also suitable for -40°C testing of hydraulic fluids, turbine and transformer oils. Its design allows the bath to quickly warm to +30°C for easy automated cleaning and drying with standard solvents (eliminating common moisture issues). It meets ASTM D2532 with 3 or 72 h thermal soak of aviation turbine lubricants down to -40°C.

The viscometer is built on the rugged and well-tested miniAV platform. It is a compact (254 W x 437 D x 598 mm H) and automated benchtop unit.

Features include: measures kinematic viscosity up to 20,000 mm2/s; environmentally friendly peltier technology cooling (removes the need for external refrigerants) and includes small air-water heat exchanger; viscometer tube incorporates sensitive thermistor sensors; available with 10-fold range tube.
