Cellbox Solutions has launched the Cellbox 2.0 transportable incubator, showcasing added features, improvements and software options. The company has increased the self-sufficient runtime of the device to more than 48 h, enabled collection of comprehensive shipment data via eight different sensors, and upgraded the software and user interface to make the product particularly useful for worldwide live cell and organoid transportation, both in regulated and R&D environments.

The product makes it possible to ship live cells and other delicate biological materials under prolonged controlled incubatory conditions. With its extended runtime and international flight permission, the device can easily reach locations all over the world. The incubation environment can be flexibly adjusted for each transport to the specific needs of the biological material, allowing for a wide range of cell types and tissues to be transported under optimal conditions.

Enabling researchers to share their biological material without the need to freeze it down, the product expands options for research and company collaborations. It enables a fast-emerging market with high growth potential of biological materials that need new shipping solutions as an alternative to cold chain and cryo shipments — for example, complex but highly relevant cell systems, organoids or regenerative biological materials and various CGT products. The reworked software, combined with new user management for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, makes the incubator suitable for cell and gene therapy applications and all other fields where GMP plays a major role.
