Part of Copan’s Liquid Based Microbiology range is the fecalSwab, an advanced system for the collection, transport and preservation of faecal specimens. The medium formulation is suitable for the viability of Enterobacteriaceae.
Samples can be collected with the swab directly from the patient or from a sample in a specimen container. The swab is then placed into the media and transported to the lab for culture or PCR. The properties of the tube and ‘capture cap’ allow for easier access to the specimen and adequate elution of the specimen into the medium. The capture cap can facilitate direct streaking into culture plates or an aliquot can be transferred to a selective enrichment broth.
The product is compatible with most current automated specimen processing equipment.
