Duran Super Duty beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks

For mechanically demanding work, Schott has added Super Duty beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks to its Duran product range.

The mechanical sturdiness of the glassware has been improved in comparison with standard Duran beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks by increasing the amount of glass. The strengthened rim is another advantage of the product and provides additional impact resistance, which considerably reduces the risk of breakage.

This extension to the Duran product range offers the user optimum safety when working with glassware that is subject to heavy mechanical loading, even when it is cleaned and used frequently.

Super Duty glass vessels are economical in the long term when their increased impact resistance is factored in.

The Super Duty products are characterised by high chemical resistance, nearly inert behaviour and high usage temperature as well as being autoclavable. To avoid thermal stressing of the glass, uniform and slow heating of Super Duty products is recommended. When working at very high temperatures, or at rapid temperature changes, standard Duran beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks should be used, as these are characterised by good thermal shock resistance. However, in comparison with the Super Duty range, the mechanical sturdiness of such Duran products is lower.
