The Chatillon TCD225 force-testing system can be set up in seconds to perform a wide variety of tests. It allows users to perform singular or multi-variable testing without relying on a personal computer or complex software.

The system features: a graphical interface for set-up; large, easy-to-read displays; help prompts; and intelligent messaging. Its flexibility and simplicity make it suitable for applications ranging from springs to medical devices.

The device consists of a an easy-to-use console, a rugged frame with a closed-loop motion control system and a load sensing system with measuring accuracies better than 0.1% full scale.

The lightweight, portable tester can be easily positioned to fit within tight work spaces and its large throat depth is suitable for testing large diameter samples. The console can be positioned for maximum comfort and readability.

Menus and prompts are available during set-up to assist the user. Data is displayed in tabular tables and graphs. Colour is used to identify key status events or to inform the user of specific events. The system features multiple language options for greater ease of use.

The frame operates from 0.01 to 1270 mm/min and employs an advanced closed-loop PID controller for precision travel (accuracy better than 0.25% unloaded). A thumbwheel drive allows users to control crosshead position and speed in manual mode, making fixture preparation and alignment safe and efficient.

The TCD225 series collects data at 1000 samples/s. The sample rate can be configured from 1-1000 Hz. Data can be plotted in graphical results or downloaded to a USB flash drive.

The TCD series also incorporates Ametek’s Chatillon TLC series sensor technology. Sensors plug into the console, which automatically downloads all sensor characteristics. Safeguards are included to prevent an operator from using the incorrect sensor on a particular test. Seven interchangeable load sensors are available.

The system provides mechanical limits on the front of the column to prevent accidental distance over-ranging and a series of load limit options to prevent accidental overloads. The console features supervisor and operator levels of access, both password-protected.
