Greiner Bio-One Datamatrix Barcode Cryovials

Friday, 20 November, 2009 | Supplied by: Interpath Services Pty Ltd

Greiner Bio-One has introduced 2D Datamatrix Cryovials for simple and accurate sample identification.

Datamatrix is two-dimensional bar code symbology, laid out in a square grid that is claimed to provide more secure sample identification than a standard bar code.

Using an array of dark and light squares, information can be encoded into the Datamatrix symbol at a much larger data capacity, but 30 times smaller than standard bar codes.

The cryovials have the Datamatrix code integrated into the base of the freestanding vial, making them resistant to abrasion and other mechanical strains that may occur during repeated freeze-thaw cycles as well as a wide variety of chemicals.

Datamatrix codes can be read with a variety of handheld, bench-top and fixed-mount scanners.
