ManSci has released the PeCOD to measure COD with no dichromate, digestion, H2SO4 or Hg required.
The PeCOD technology is claimed to be faster, greener, more precise and more cost-effective than the dichromate method.
The menu-driven analyser is suitable for rapid COD tests to support plant operations and verify discharge targets. It is claimed to be more accurate across a broader range of organics. Complete oxidation of organic species enables accuracy and reproducibility, with ppb sensitivity and reproducibility.
Real time results (\<5 min) avoid time delays encountered by chemical oxidation methods and increase sample throughput, with results reported as COD or BOD. It features Absolute COD measurement and low cost per sample. Elimination of the use of toxic and hazardous reagents in COD analysis improves safety and, as only an electrolyte is needed, there is no hazardous waste disposal of reagents required.
It is available in laboratory, portable field and online models.
