The AM 2224 two-phase miniature stepper motor has a diameter of 22 mm and a high power-to-volume ratio. The motor achieves an output of 2.5 W and a peak holding torque of 45 mNm.
The motor comes in 3, 6, 12 and 24 V versions, as well as 0.25 A and 0.50 A. It accurately executes the transmitted control signals and allows an angular step of 15° (smaller in micro-stepping). In an open control loop this makes it possible to run rotary speed profiles or build up a positioning control. After switching off, the motor maintains its present position.
Like brushless motors, stepper motors do not have any mechanical commutation, so service life is limited only by the bearings.
Matching speed reducers are also available, such as the Planetary Gearhead Series 23/1 which increases continuous torque to 0.7 Nm, or 1 Nm in intermittent operation.
