The Micromeritics TriStar II analysis system is a fully automated, three-station analyser that is easy to use and designed to analyse up to three samples simultaneously for optimum throughput.

The instrument features a krypton option, allowing measurements in the low surface area range.

It also combines versatility in analysis methods and data reduction to allow the user to adapt the system to specific applications. The TriStar ‘confirm’software provides the security features and audit trails required by the FDA 21CFR11 regulation.

Other features include: three analysis ports that operate simultaneously and independently of one another; for additional throughput, four TriStars can be operated with one computer; a standard nitrogen system that can measure surface areas as low as 0.01 m2/g, while the krypton option can extend surface area measurements to as low as 0.001 m2/g; and a dedicated Poport that allows the measurement of saturation pressure on a continuous basis.

Incremental or fixed dosing routines prevent overshooting pressure points while minimising analysis time. Free space can be measured, calculated or manually entered.

Product support features include: video clips; ethernet communication between the computer and TriStar II; bar code reader capability; built-in electronic test points and diagnostic software; ability to perform remote diagnostics via the internet; and the ability to read and compare historical TriStar and Gemini data to TriStar II data.

A 2.75 L Dewar and extended length sample tubes allow complete adsorption and desorption isotherms to be collected without operator intervention.

The TriStar II can collect up to 1000 data points. Its Windows-based software includes SPC reports, isotherm and thickness models, isosteric heat of adsorption reports and integrated DFT models.

A variety of optional sample preparation devices are available.

The system is suitable for applications in pharmaceuticals, catalysts, cosmetics, paints, pigments, geosciences, fuel cells and high-tech ceramics.
