An updated version of the Laboratory Guide to Workplace Safety is now available, produced by Pro-Visual Publishing in association with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).

The free guide is distributed to all NATA members, major laboratories and university science faculties across Australia.

The chart provides information and advice on a range of laboratory safety issues, from manual handling risks in the laboratory, where awkward positions, poorly laid out workstations and long periods of standing while at work are prevalent; to hazard minimisation advice on topics such as electrical safety, air quality control, the use of sharps and the correct use of different classifications of lasers.

"The information is presented in an attractive and user-friendly format that is easy to read and refer to," NATA's manager for corporate marketing, Chris Winston, said.

"This should ensure its prominent display and regular use by laboratories, especially those committed to technical competence and good practice."
