The new MembraneMax Protein Expression Kits allow researchers to rapidly produce milligrams of soluble membrane proteins that are exceptionally easy to purify. Over 50 per cent of targets in pharmaceutical drug development are membrane proteins. The MembraneMax technology uses nanolipoprotein disks to capture, fold and stabilise membrane proteins produced in a cell-free protein expression system. In initial performance testing, over 30 human membrane proteins were expressed at >0.1mg/ml in soluble form using the new kits. MembraneMax Protein Expression Kits will be a welcome addition to the tools available to membrane protein researchers struggling to understand the detailed molecular structure and function of this therapeutically important class of proteins.
