ResMed hires COO for North American subsidiary

Sydney-based ResMed, manufacturer of world-leading devices for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep breathing disorders, has made a key appointment to its head its North American subsidiary, ResMed Corp.
ResMed Corp's new president and chief operating officer is Kieran Gallahue, former president of San Diego-based microarray technology company Nanogen. Gallahue has also served as Nanogen's chief financial officer and vice-president of strategic marketing.
Before joining Nanogen, Gallahue headed the critical care business division of Instrumentation Laboratory, and was responsible for the company's international R&D program, business development, scientific affairs, marketing and sales.
According to today's announcement, Gallahue will be responsible for the day-to-day running of ResMed Corp's business in the US, Canada and Latin America, including sales, marketing, clinical education, new business development, and operations and finance. He will also direct new business initiatives in diabetes, congestive heart failure, hypertension and primary care.
Gallahue, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report directly to ResMed chairman and CEO Dr Peter Farrell, who will continue to head ResMed's global business.
ResMed develops, manufactures and markets a range of medical equipment for diagnosing, treating or managing breathing disorders during sleep, including sleep apnoea.
