The project consultant for Eastland Medical Systems's (ASX: EMS) ArTiMist anti-malaria treatment has demonstrated the product to Sierra Leone government officials, after travelling to the country as part of a delegation that included Sir Bob Geldof.

The presentation was part of discussions with officials from the African country over the establishment of a Phase III clinical trial of the product, which is to involve around 75 Sierra Leone children.

Six delegates visited the country for the discussions.

ArTiMist is a sublingual treatment which has been demonstrated to be particularly effective in malaria sufferers under the age of two.

More than a million children die from malaria every year.
