Early-career researcher awards announced

The Australian Academy of Science is offering a special early-career researcher program in conjunction with Science at the Shine Dome on 2-4 May 2001 in Canberra.

The DSTO, the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Australian Research Council and the Academy are sponsoring national awards for early-career researchers to participate in this program. The awards include free registration, return airfares to Canberra, accommodation and meals.

The early-career researchers program includes the New Fellows seminar, awards presentations, and the annual symposium entitled 'Cracking the code - using the code: The Human Genome Project and its applications'. Those who attend will also participate in a seminar on career planning, international collaboration and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Applications for the awards close on 4 April. In addition the CSIRO, CRCs, universities and research institutions have been invited to nominate and support their own outstanding young staff members to participate in the program.
