Microorganisms and enzymes in manufacturing seminar
The ARC Network for Fluorescence Applications in Biotechnology and Life Sciences (FABLS), NSW Department of State and Regional Development and Macquarie University invite you to a "microorganisms and enzymes in manufacturing' seminar.
This free event will be held 17 August 3:30 " 5:30pm, in the BioFirst, G18, National Innovation Centre, Australian Technology Park, Eveleigh.
Speakers include:
- Dr Peter Bergquist " pioneer of cloning and expressing genes from extremophile microorganisms and developer of unique methods for in vitro enzyme evolution.
- Tim Wawn " CEO of biotechnology company Applimex Systems Pty Ltd.
- Dr Graham Vesey " co-founder of BTF Pty Ltd, a company formed to create precision controls for microbiological testing.
Aspects of emerging technology using microorganisms and enzymes in manufacturing technology will be presented, including predictions as to its future and how it will be applied across several complementary fields of enterprise.
This will be followed by two business examples currently being developed. Commentary will address why these pieces of technology are being developed, what the triggers were to get it going and how the company was made sufficiently attractive to encourage investment. The emphasis will be on technology impediments rather than financial.
FABLS inspires and coordinates research programs relating to applications of fluorescence that require a high degree of interaction between biology, physics, chemistry, bioengineering and medicine.
