Automated pipette

The 'HandyStep electronic' from Brand is a microprocessor-controlled, battery-operated pipette with automatic tip size recognition for the encoded Plastibrand PD-Tips. It is also compatible with most standard dispenser tips, including Combitips and Combitips Plus, by manually entering the tip size.

The continuous volume adjustment of the HandyStep electronic permits individual volume selection from 1.0 µL to 50 mL for serial dispensing in routine and critical applications.

The HandyStep electronic features three operational modes: pipetting, dispensing and an intuitive automatic dispensing mode in which the pipette 'learns' the user's dispensing rhythm, and maintains it as long as the control button is depressed - no time-interval programming is needed.

All aspects of operation are shown clearly on a large LCD with symbols, words and values. The screen features a counter to assist users with repetitive dispensing applications and is easy to read during both right- and left-handed operation.

The HandyStep electronic operates with a relaxed grip that is comfortable in either hand. A subtle squeeze of the control button under the index finger actuates all aspirating and dispensing. The adjustable-speed motor drive ensures fatigue-free pipetting, reduces the risk of repetitive motion injuries, and improves precision by eliminating variation in pipetting technique.

The pipettor is supplied with a compact charging dock and a NiMH battery pack. The battery is automatically recharged by placing the instrument in the charging dock. To avoid downtime, a second battery pack can be charged, while working with the instrument. Charging the battery pack outside the instrument takes only 2.5 hours and swapping battery packs takes only a few seconds, without data loss.
