The Agilent 1100 Series capillary LC system offers increased sensitivity for analysing limited sample volumes typically found in the biopharmaceutical research environment.

The system, based on the Agilent 1100 Series HPLC system, uses a pump technology that optimises the system for capillary LC, offering a high level of sensitivity and reproducibility.

The Agilent 1100 Series capillary pump incorporates an electronic flow control (EFC) that measures and controls the actual flow rate, rather than depending on calculations. This assures flow rate stability throughout the analysis. The pump provides flow rates from 1 to 100 microlitres/min, with full gradient capability for capillary LC and 2.5mL/min in standard mode for a wide range of flexibility. The use of components common to all Agilent 1100 Series systems ensures safe and easy transfer of methods from a standard LC system to the capillary LC system.

The capillary LC system includes a micro vacuum degasser, that has a very low internal volume (1 mL) for fast changeover of mobile phases and quick purge and a micro autosampler, which enables the user to handle smaller injection volumes. The thermostatted column compartment has Peltier cooling and heating from ten degrees below ambient up to 80 degrees Celsius and the diode array detector has an expanded detection range from 190 to 950nm and a 500nl cell which minimises dispersion.

An optional Agilent 1100 Series mass selective detector for complementary mass spectral information, offers sensitivity and reproducibility.

The Agilent 1100 Series capillary LC system can be operated with two controllers: the 3D Agilent ChemStation and a handheld controller. Both provide simple-to-use graphical user interfaces for intuitive operation.

The system also contains built-in features like easy installation and start-up kits, a computer-aided verification package, calibration features and comprehensive standard operating procedures.

Additional accessories include: microbore columns packed with ZORBAX (SB, SB 300A, XDA), a variety of vials and optimised fittings and connections.
