Beckman Coulter has released the UniCel DxC 600 Synchron clinical system.

The system builds on the company's Synchron clinical analysers to offer a broad test menu while providing highly accurate results and reliability.

The addition of the DxC 600 to the range of UniCel brand instruments is a strategy to deliver standardised product ranges with flexible connectivity for greater workstation consolidation.

The analyser features onboard capacity of 65 reagents and throughput up to 990 tests an hour. The system provides results for 96 basic metabolic panels within an hour.

More than 100 liquid, ready-to-use reagents are available for use on the system, including general chemistries, care chemistries, proteins, serologies and esoteric chemistries, as well as therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs-of-abuse tests.

It can be configured with the company's proprietary closed-tube sampling which increases laboratory efficiency while speeding test turnaround time and reducing operators' exposure to biohazards and repetitive motion injuries.

CTS also helps prevent erroneous results caused by evaporation or sample contamination.

The capability to perform automated serum indices further improves the quality of test results by removing the need for visual, subjective interpretation of hemolysis, icterus and lipemia contamination, while automatic clot detection and correction reduce sample exceptions.

The system also features automatic stat notification, re-run of samples with abnormal results, review-by-exception and work-pending log that help improve workflow and results management.

In addition, it can be configured with a near-infrared particle immunoassay detection that operates at a 940 nm wavelength. This helps laboratories achieve reliable results for low-concentration analytes, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein testing.
