Non-animal organic lac operon inducer

An animal-free IPTG (isopropyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside) is available from BioVectra.

IPTG is commonly used as a lac operon inducer, which irreversibly binds the lac repressor. The lac operon is a commonly used genetic element in transcription research, for the detection of gene insertion. IPTG binds to a specific site on the lac repressor, causing a conformational change which results in its dissociation from the lac operon. IPTG is often ultimately used in the large-scale expression of expressed compounds.

A key base material used in IPTG production is galactose; most often, commercially available IPTG reagents use animal-based galactose in their production processes.

BioVectra has qualified and produced validation lots of IPTG using an animal-free galactose as its starting material. BioVectra can provide a full reagent qualification package, including validation lot samples, a pre-completed quality assurance questionnaire, and material origin declaration.
