The Scion Instruments 436 Gas Chromatograph owes its design concepts to the Varian gas chromatography systems of the past. It is a versatile, easy-to-use instrument with a host of features and flexibility.
Even in its simplest format, the product offers dual-channel architecture in a small-footprint GC that delivers good performance. Seven detectors are on offer, including the sensitive single-quad MS detector and specialised detectors such as the sensitive PFPD. A range of injectors and autosamplers completes the package.
The device also has onboard facilities to minimise gas consumption. The high-performance oven can cycle quickly between temperatures to minimise the dead time between analyses. This, combined with high-pressure injectors and narrow bore columns, is said to speed up analysis time.
The device is a good QC instrument and a suitable starting point for customised GC systems, as well as dedicated systems packages for applications such as simulated distillation or hydrocarbon analysis.
