Australian Academy of Science 2027 honorific awards — nominations close 1 May
Recognising outstanding contributions to the advancement of science, from researchers early in their careers to those with a lifetime of achievements, nominations for the Australian Academy of Science 2027 honorific awards close on 1 May 2026. Remarkable achievements in research fields including Earth sciences, biology, physics, mathematics and chemistry are recognised by the awards.
“We are seeking nominations of outstanding scientists from all career stages, backgrounds and genders, and strongly encourage more nominations of women and other under-represented groups for all awards, in particular the career and mid-career honorific awards,” the Australian Academy of Science said.
“When you’re working hard over long periods, it’s easy to wonder if the effort and quality of your work are truly appreciated — this award reassures me that it is,” 2025 Pawsey Medal recipient Associate Professor Claudia Lagos said. “Being acknowledged by the scientific community means a great deal to me, and it motivates me to keep pushing forward.”
Anyone can nominate a scientist for an honorific award, though those nominating should first make sure their nominee is happy to be put forward. Information about the nomination process and tips for a strong nomination are available here, via the Australian Academy of Science website.
