Australian Academy of Science launches video podcast
The Australian Academy of Science has launched Brain Box, a series of video podcast interviews with Australian scientists. Available for free on YouTube and iTunes, the series features short clips of scientists speaking about their passions, motivations, heroes and experiences.
According to Academy President Professor Andrew Holmes, “Scientists featured on Brain Box are from different backgrounds, have different motivations and are doing a range of different work, but they’re all inspiring.
“We believe it’s important that scientists tell their stories and show the passion they have for their work, what inspires them and what motivates them.”
In the first three episodes, epilepsy specialist and Prime Minister’s Prize for Science winner Professor Ingrid Scheffer describes how she became an “accidental scientist”; oceanographer and climate scientist Professor Matthew England discusses his affinity with the ocean; and venom expert Dr Bryan Fry tells of his decision, at age four, to make venomous animals his life’s work.
New videos will be released every month.
