IDT acquires Korean distributor Mbiotech
Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) — a producer of synthetic nucleic acids for molecular biology applications — has acquired Mbiotech, a distributor of IDT products in South Korea for more than a decade.
Established in 2003, Mbiotech is a sales company focusing on the life sciences research market. Apart from IDT, the company also distributes for manufacturers such as Bioline, Mirus and Lucigen, carrying products including reagents, enzymes, kits, consumables and lab equipment. IDT plans to continue Mbiotech’s distribution activities of these products and to keep day-to-day operations unchanged.
“IDT has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Mbiotech,” said Dr Joseph A Walder, IDT’s founder and CEO. “We respect and welcome them into the company. Mbiotech’s local-language website, efficient operations and extensive distributor base make it a valuable asset.”
“We are very pleased to become part of the IDT family,” said Joshua Lee, the founder, president and CEO of Mbiotech. “As one company, we will be able to offer better service to our Korean customers and those in our global markets.”
