Invetech, the company that created the 3D Bio-printer for human tissue repair and organ replacement, has been commended for its export success at the 2010 Governor of Victoria Export Awards.

Invetech currently generates around 97% of its turnover from exporting to more than 15 countries across the Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe. Products developed by the company often involve electromechanical devices, robotics, microfluids, optics, and electronic and software engineering.

The award commended the Mount Waverley company for being at the forefront of practical application of complex science, creating products that are vital to society now and in the future.

Initially established to focus on the development of diagnostic instruments for the Australian market, Invetech now services a number of sectors including diagnostics, medical devices, life sciences, clean tech, industrial and consumer products.

Recent developments include the first 3D Bio-Printer for human tissue repair and organ replacement, the world’s first cell separation system for the commercialisation of cell therapies and the Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain dispenser that is capable of delivering more than 100 beverages from a single touch screen.

Invetech CEO Dr Fred Davis said the company is committed to continuing to invest in the development of export markets through its offices in Melbourne, Zurich and San Diego.

“Our competitive edge comes from our people. Our workforce is a highly trained group of specialists with a depth of global industry experience. We employ engineers, designers, physicists, biologists, scientists and technicians who are able to work closely with our clients to develop innovative concepts, processes and create breakthrough results,” Dr Davis said.
