Queensland company wows New York

Minister for State Development John Mickel has congratulated Brisbane-based company BSD Robotics for its success at the Australian Innovation Shootout in New York as part of G'Day USA Australia Week.

BSD Robotics focuses on the design, manufacture and supply of high-technology laboratory instruments used in the automated processing of fluid samples (blood, urine and mouth swabs).

"This is a fantastic achievement for a Queensland company which has become a world market leader in its field," Mickel said.

"Until the company promoted the development of bio-sample collection and handling systems in October 2006, there was no system where bio-samples could be taken and automatically processed."

The Queensland government supports BSD Robotics through its involvement in the Australian Technology Showcase Program. The program provides high-technology Queensland companies with business leads and helps them to market their products overseas.
