Evaluating inflammatory response

Tuesday, 01 July, 2008 | Supplied by: SDR Scientific

The Plethysmometer is specially designed for evaluating experimentally induced inflammatory response.

The system assesses change in paw volume and can be used to screen for potential anti-inflammatory or anti-oedema properties.

The water displacement produced by immersing the animal’s paw in the measuring tube is reflected into an interconnected secondary tube that contains a conductive solution.

An electrode measures the change in conductance between the two electrodes and an output signal is generated to indicate the volume displaced.

A test button allows the researcher to easily check the conductivity of the solution before measurement.
