Cayman Chemical’s NETosis Assay Kit provides a simple and fast method for studying the process of NETosis ex vivo. Notably, the kit does not depend on the DNA component of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), as DNA release can occur independently of NETosis. Instead, it delivers a novel way to quantifiably measure NETs in multiple species.
As neutrophils sacrifice themselves through a cell death mechanism known as netosis, they deploy NETs made of DNA and antimicrobial proteins, including elastase, that capture and kill pathogens. This behaviour is the subject of interest for immunologists and those conducting autoimmune research or inflammation research. Specific research areas include: lupus, lung disease, thrombosis and many others.
The assay kit can induce and detect NET formation in vitro. It features a non-dsDNA readout, which eliminates false positives from DNA. It is adaptable to multiple species.
