Echelon Biosciences Hyaluronidase Activity ELISA
Hyaluronidases are a group of enzymes that degrade hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid, HA), a linear polysaccharide comprised of a repeating disaccharide of N-acetylglucosamine and D-glucuronic acid. Elevated expression levels of the gene encoding Hyaluronidase 1 have been found in atypical ductal hyperplastic tissues, suggesting the possibility that it may be a viable biomarker for identifying premalignant lesions that can develop into breast cancer.
Research has also shown that hyaluronidases are involved in several pathological processes such as bacterial pathogenesis, and the spreading of toxins/venoms. Hyaluronidases are involved in several pathological processes and excessive HA has been implicated in the pathology of COVID-19 making hyaluronidases a potential pharmacological target.
Echelon Biosciences has developed the Hyaluronidase Activity ELISA, a quantitative immunoassay for the in vitro measurement of hyaluronidase activity in biological samples. The ELISA kit has been validated for use with human sera, plasma, urine and purified hyaluronidase from bovine testes, providing a robust and simple method for researchers to measure hyaluronidase activity in biological samples.
