2013 Medical Device Commercialisation Seminar Series starts today
The 2013 Medical Device Commercialisation Seminar Series, hosted by The Warren Centre, aims to do two things:
- To educate those young (at heart) engineers and clinicians about how to take their ideas through to commercial success, avoiding some of the common pitfalls out there.
- To provide networking opportunities between the industry and this ‘next crop of success stories’.
The program of 10 seminars explores what it takes to be one of the medical device success stories, helping today’s inventors fast-track to commercialisation.
The series kicks off tonight at the University of Sydney’s Engineering Precinct and will be held Thursdays from 6-8 pm. Dates and themes are as follows:
- 4 April - Design thinking, innovation and commercialisation
- 2 May - Australian medical devices landscape
- 30 May - Intellectual property protection
- 4 July - Government policy, health ministers
- 1 August - Clinical, ethical and regulatory approvals
- 29 August - Funding: private, VC, grants, public, crowds
- 19 September - Business planning, turning R&D into $$
