Acrux moves into new lab facilities
Friday, 18 October, 2002
Acrux has officially opened its new facilities in West Melbourne, kicking off a new phase in the company's growth.
Company chairman Maurice Newman said the move was a defining moment in Acrux's process of going from start-up company to serious biotechnology organisation. "Acrux is an important company, and it's a good news story for Victoria and Australia," he said.
The new facility contains both office and laboratory space. It allows Acrux to accelerate into late-stage development of three products: fentanyl for the treatment of chronic pain, estradiol for management of post-menopausal symptoms and testosterone for certain types of female sexual dysfunction as well as continue with other projects, including its collaboration with pharmaceutical company Pharmacia.
Until now, the company has been incubated at the Victorian College of Pharmacy at Monash University, where the technology was first developed.
