Amrad to change its name

Melbourne's Amrad Corporation (ASX:AML) will be seeking approval from shareholders to change its name.

The proposed name will be revealed on Monday, ahead of the company's AGM on October 27

"We've been through a process of trying to decide on an appropriate name for the company and we'll put it to the shareholders at the meeting," said Amrad CEO Andrew Nash.

Nash said the Amrad name had "history and legacy issues" and that changing the company's name was a way to move forward.

"Amrad has changed enormously in terms of its structure and the sort of things it works on. When I compare the Amrad now to the company that I started working with in 1996, it's completely different," said Nash. "We need to move on and changing the name is a symbolic part of that."
