ARC grant announcements
The Australian Research Council’s Future Fellowships scheme commencing in 2013 and major grants schemes commencing in 2014 have been issued by Minister for Education Christopher Pyne.
This round will see $522 million awarded to 1177 new research projects across five ARC research schemes.
The funding included $152 million for 201 projects under the Future Fellowships scheme, $258 million for 703 research projects under the Discovery Projects scheme, $75.7 million for 200 new Discovery Early Career Research Awards, $4.8 million to support 10 projects in the Discovery Indigenous scheme and $32 million for 62 projects in the Linkage, Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) scheme.
Funding was spread across the states and territories with mental health, cancer, marine science and better understanding of bushfires amongst projects funded.
