AusBiotech announces formation of the AusMedtech Health Economics Expert Panel

The AusMedtech Health Economics Expert Panel to be chaired by Mr Warren Bingham, President of Given Imaging and committee member of the AusMedtech National Advisory Group, will provide advice on issues and trends impacting the medical device and diagnostics sector in Australia, related to:
- Health economics and assessment;
- Reforms in the Health Technology Assessment framework; and
- Processes for public funding and reimbursement of medical devices in Australia.
The Panel comprising of up to 10 appointed members will bring together a cross-section of representatives from small to large Australian medical device companies, overseas manufacturers and suppliers, regulatory and industry consultants.
Dr Anna Lavelle, CEO of AusBiotech, said: “Responding to members’ needs, AusBiotech is pleased to launch this new panel which will focus specifically on the health economic issues for the fast-growing and developing medical technology sector.”
“The Panel will enable us to be more active in advocacy related to regulatory processes and approvals for medical devices and diagnostics in Australia, and thereby more supportive to emerging medical technologies."
The Panel will provide expert advice to AusBiotech’s CEO on specific industry matters to provide support to AusBiotech/AusMedtech members.
