The NSW Government has published its draft Manufacturing Industry Action Plan and has invited comment on the plan, which aims “to gain a new or renewed commitment to a vital industry from governments, companies, associations and all those who are passionate about using their skills to add immense value to the State.”

AusBiotech will be making a submission and invites interested members to participate by forwarding comments to AusBiotech’s National Manager of Programs, Julie Chmielowski by COB Monday 23 July 2012 at juliec@ausbiotech.org or 0419 914 191/ 03 9828 1425.

The nine key recommendations in the draft plan have been developed by a task force of nine industry leaders, based on the input and experience from seven regional forums, over 30 submissions and a similar number of individual interviews, which has sought to “capture the pulse of the industry.”

The Taskforce has developed draft actions for both industry and government to encourage growth, productivity, innovation and export performance.

The completed Industry Action Plan will outline a vision and strategy for the manufacturing sector over the next decade in NSW and has parallel objectives of:

  • Sustaining the existing manufacturing capability;
  • Urgently developing new competitive strengths for future success;
  • Growing sectors of competitive advantage using innovation and collaborative supply chains.

Interested stakeholders are encouraged to take this opportunity to contribute to the final shape of the Industry Action Plan. These submissions will be used to refine the vision and recommended actions for this key sector in the NSW economy.

The final Manufacturing Industry Action Plan will be presented to Government later this year.

The draft Industry Action Plan can be found here.
