NCRIS rolls out upgraded biotech labs

Upgraded biotechnology research facilities were launched today at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Macquarie University.
The $1.9 million upgrade was funded as a part of the $21 million Recombinant Proteins and Biofuels Project under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).
The UNSW lab will focus on research in to heart disease, breast cancer, veterinary vaccines and anti-microbials, while the Macquarie lab's emphasis is on developing biofuels.
The upgraded labs were launched today by Richard Marles, Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.
